Two of the most influential television programs in history - Sesame Street and Mister Rogers' Neighborhood - produced some of the wittiest and most endearing songs in the American popular songbook. Chicago cabaret performer Justin Hayford has put them together for this special program, along with the fascinating stories behind their creation. You'll hear well-known classics like Bein' Green, Sing! and Won't You Be My Neighbor? along with obscure gems like When Bert's Not Here and It's You I Like. The songs may have been written for children, but their cleverness, insight and poignancy resonate at any age.

Chicago cabaret singer Justin Hayford has played clubs from Los Angeles to New York. Now he's back home to perform his brand new show, created especially to benefit AIDS Legal Council of Chicago. For these special performances, you set the admission price. Every dollar will go directly to AIDS Legal Council of Chicago.

Save the Date: Advocates of the Year Awards
take place on March 22

Advocates of the Year Awards

AIDS Legal Council and Windy City Times will be holding the annual Advocates of the Year Awards on Thursday, March 22.

Each year a committee, which includes previous Advocate recipients, selects several individuals and organizations that deserve to be singled out for their efforts in the continuing struggle against HIV and AIDS. Medical personnel, caregivers, advocacy activists, pro bono attorneys – all these and more have been given the award in the past.

Far too many in the HIV arena go unrecognized for their important contributions. These annual awards are a way to correct that. Please plan on attending. Watch this space (or your email if you are on our mailing list) for more information.

AIDS Run and Walk 2011
Way to Go, Legal Beagles!

Our Legal Beagles team participated again in this year's AIDS Run & Walk, raising more money than ever– about $16,000!

All of these donations are awarded to ALCC, so the effort of the Legal Beagles helps us directly. Many thanks to our hard-working team members and generous supporters!

Everyone had a great time during our
Orient Express fundraiser!

More than 300 people turned out on August 24th to take part in ALCC's annual fundraiser at Sidetrack.

This year's theme was the Orient Express and our guests were generous in their support — bidding on the many silent auction items and scooping up raffle tickets. As promised, we had a delightful spread of food and got to watch Kerensa DeMars perform three traditional Turkish dances. Check out her web site.

Everyone enjoyed the evening, whether in the middle of a boisterous crowd at one of the bars or tucked away in a corner on the roof deck. If you missed it, start thinking about attending next year! We always like to host a great party.
